What's new on Amazon Prime TV?

The overall streaming library of Amazon is vast. It is filled with thousands of movies, TV shows, and Amazon original series from the US and EU and all over the world. Much like Netflix, the platform is trying its best to be diverse in its selections. While it has a lot of catching up to do to its predecessors Netflix and Apple TV, it is overall worth its subscription.

Not sure which shows to start with? Understandable, considering the choices are practically endless. If you want recent ones that have aired just this year or last year, here’s a look at some of the best new shows to stream on Amazon Prime right now.

Undone

An Amazon Prime Original series is unique not just in the storyline but also in its visuals. It uses an animation technique called rotoscoping. The series shows live actors whose live movements were traced to turn them into animated characters.

Rosa Salazar (Alita: Battle Angel) stars as a woman who survives a car accident. She starts seeing visions of her late father, who wants her to solve the mystery of how he died years prior.

Set in 1977, a secret group is trying to locate and hunt down Nazis from the War that ended some thirty years ago. While receiving high praise from critics, the show has also faced controversy from groups like the Auschwitz Memorial.

Hunters claim that actual events inspire the story but take this with a grain of salt. The majority of the plotline has been altered to fit its fictional genre. The show stars Al Pacino in his first major TV series role and Logan Lerman (The Perks of Being a Wallflower).

The Wilds

In this Young Adult series, teenage girls from different backgrounds survive a plane crash to find themselves stranded on a deserted island and fighting for survival. With all the angst and drama of the coming-to-age genre, The Wilds delivers for fans of the all-time classic Lord of the Flies.

But nothing is as it seems for these girls as they eventually find out that ending up on that island was no accident. One of the Executive Producers is Amy B. Harris, known for her work with Sex and the City and The Carrie Diaries.

Another one for adult animation lovers out there, Invincible, centers on 17-year old Mark Grayson, who learns that his father is Omni-Man, the most powerful being on the planet. He has inherited some of these powers.

The show is based on the comic book series of the same name written by acclaimed creator Robert Kirkman, known for his work on The Walking Dead. The show stars the voices of multi-awarded actors Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, Mark Hamill, Seth Rogen, and J. K. Simmons.

El Cid

For fans of historical dramas, this show won’t disappoint. El Cid is the story of Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar or “El Cid”, an 11th century Castilian nobleman and war hero of medieval Spain.

With political intrigue, a plot to overthrow his greatest enemy, King Ferdinand, and all of the brutal and violent ways of medieval times, the series certainly isn’t for the faint of heart. It stars Jaime Lorente Lopéz (Money Heist, Elite) as the noble knight who makes his legacy.
