SB19, Olivia Rodrigo among nominees at Kids’ Choice Awards
Left and right, P-pop groups BINI and SB19 have been constantly gaining recognition worldwide with BINI announcing their North American tour and being featured in Teen Vogue and now SB19 receiving a nomination at this year’s Nickelodeon’s Kids’ Choice Awards (KCAs).
The quintet, known for their hit song “Gento,” is nominated in the Favorite Asian Act category.
They are competing against notable acts around Asia such as the world-renowned K-pop group Enhypen, Japanese girl group NiziU, Malaysian singer Iman Troye and Indonesian pop star Tiara Andini.
Taking to Instagram, the “MAPA” performers, who just finished their Pagtatag world tour, announced the nomination and invited fans to support them.
“Guess what?! We’re grateful to share that we’ve been nominated for the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards 2024 in the category of Favorite Asian Act! Your support means everything,” they wrote.

The Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards is an annual show produced by the children’s cable channel Nickelodeon. It honors the biggest television, movie, music and internet stars of the year, as voted by viewers worldwide.
Celebrated for its emphasis on fun and fan participation, voting takes place online, allowing kids to have a direct say in who wins.
This year, the show will be hosted by SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick, with the teaser caption reading, “Who lives in a pineapple under the sea and is hosting KCA?!”

In addition to SB19, several Filipino American stars have garnered nominations at the KCAs. Grammy-award-winning singer Olivia Rodrigo has received four nominations, including Favorite Female TV Star (Kids) for her role in “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series,” Favorite Female Artist, Favorite Album for “Guts” and Favorite Ticket of the Year.
Social media sensation Bella Poarch has been nominated for Favorite Social Media Star again. She won the said award last year. Her consistent popularity and engaging content have solidified her presence in the social media landscape.
Additionally, “Bumblebee” actress and singer Hailee Steinfeld was also nominated for Favorite Female Voice From An Animated Movie for her performance in “Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.”
Fil-Canadian actor Gordon Cormier has also been nominated for Best Male TV Star for his role in the live-action adaptation of “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”
The awards night will take place on July 13, celebrating the achievements and contributions of these talented artists. This year’s nominations highlight the growing influence and recognition of Filipino and Filipino American talents in the entertainment industry.
