Yeezy Gap hoodie made by Kanye selling out hours after launch

Although this is the second Yeezy Gap collection from Kanye West’s collaboration with the high street retailer, they’re still selling like hotcakes.

Last June, the rapper launched and released the first collection with Gap. While the “Round Jacket” is the first part of the Yeezy Gap collection, it also comes with a hefty price tag of $200. It’s a unisex blue puffer jacket with recycled nylon as its main material. Despite the $200 per piece price, the release of the jacket has been a massive hit for the gap. It has been attracting a younger and new market.

The Yeezy Gap round jacket comes in different colorways – black, blue, and red (the one Kanye wore at his Donda listening party). While there are still rumors of other colors on the way, the fanfare is huge.

Whether a fanatic or not, people encounter a “sold out” message on the Gap website just hours after its release, although there’s another option, it was available for pre-order.

This happened again with the release of the second Yeezy Gap collection on Wednesday. The second collection is hoodies with six colors – brown, purple, blue, red, mustard, and black. As all colors dropped all at once, Gap used a different approach at this release. The previous releases only featured one item.

Though this new Yeezy Gap collection comes at a lower price of $90 per piece, it’s still made of quality 100% cotton in double layers. It’s also available for kids, which costs $70.

While the adult sizes were ”sold out” on Gap’s websites just within hours, there were complaints of inability to access the Yeezy section on the site.

Yeezy’s global phenomenon

With Twitter users expressing their dismay at the Yeezy Gap collection outage, the issue was global even in the UAE.

According to Gap CEO Sonia Syngal, “Our classic Gap hoodie is having a moment, so much that we re-issued it in a vintage brown for pre-order delivery this fall.”

On Wednesday, Gap shares climbed up to 6 percent in trading after the release. This was according to Bloomberg.

With Gap’s hope of attracting a younger market base, they collaborated with West on a 10-year agreement. Last year, West signed with Gap to design clothes for women, men, and children.

Though the partnership amounted to as much as $970 million, West’s wealth rose to $6.6 billion. This includes his tie-up with Adidas and the Yeezy brand.
