A frightening scene unfolded in Philadelphia on Saturday night as several active shooters opened fire in a popular area, leaving three people dead and eleven others injured. This tragic event is just another example of the increasing gun violence in our city and around the country.

A gunfire burst at around 11:31 p.m. on a busy and bustling area of South Street. It is stated in the Queen Village neighborhood. According to officers patrolling a nearby area, they heard gunfire. They immediately responded.

The patrolling officers observed that there are “several active shooters in the crowd”.

Upon arrival, the officers found a gunman firing into a crowd of people while several wounded victims are lying on the sidewalks. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw said on a conference briefing on Sunday afternoon.

Outlaw also reported that the shooters used five guns. Following a probable “physical altercation.”One of the gunmen was likely shot and wounded. However, he managed to escape the police. One of the gunmen that might be involved in the physical altercation is one of the three people killed.

In addition, the other two victims are just innocent bystanders, Outlaw said.

Outlaw also reported that one officer saw a man shooting a handgun into the large crowd. Then the officer drew his weapon and “fired several times in the direction of the unknown male, we believe striking him. The unknown male dropped his handgun on the sidewalk and ran southbound on 600 American Street. We lost the male in the area.” Outlaw stated these details in the meeting.

The police department reported 3 victims – Alexis Quinn, 27; Gregory Jackson, 34; and one 22-year-old guy whose name was unknown.

In addition, 11 more people were also injured with gunshot wounds. The police stated in a news release that one of the 11 injured is in critical condition. The victims’ age is ranging from 17 to 69.

According to Outlaw, the investigation is still at its initial stage. It’s too early to predict that the Philadelphia shooting was in connection with the other shooting incidents that Saturday evening. As it is one of the several shootings that occurred in the area.

Outlaw added, “Yesterday was a dark day for Philadelphia. And while many of us were out enjoying the beautiful day in the city, a horrendous and unthinkable act happened in a very popular local and tourist hangout.”

The police department is offering a $20,000 reward for any information that could help in the arrest of the suspects. They have also encouraged witnesses to come forward and coordinate with the investigation. Moreover, the FBI is already helping with the resources.
