Ingredients:
- 3 cups fresh bread crumbs
- 4 cups basic tomato sauce (or Marinara sauce)
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1 ½ lb. 85% lean ground beef (You can use ground turkey, beef and pork, any ground meats)
- One lb. ground pork
- Three large eggs
- ½ cup finely minced yellow onion
- Three garlic cloves, minced
- 2 tbsp finely chopped fresh basil
- 2 tbsp finely chopped parsley
- 1 Tbsp finely chopped oregano
- 1 cup finely shredded Parmesan cheese
- ¾ cup olive oil (if you are frying the meatballs)
- Salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- In a large, heavy skillet, bring the tomato sauce to a quick simmer. Put the bread in a medium-sized bowl and add milk. Leave this bowl to the side for now.
- In a bowl of a mixer, add beef and eggs. Next, grate the garlic in the bowl. Add cheese, parsley, and salt. Mix these for a short time.
- Next, add the milk-soaked bread crumbs to the meat mixture. Mix these until you see some texture and moisture. It usually takes about one minute.
