Fil-Jamaican chef to compete in Top Chef Canada, Season 9

Andrea Alridge, Filipina-Jamaican chef de cuisine of Downtown Vancouver’s Italian restaurant Cincin Ristorante + Bar, will be competing in Top Chef Canada, Season 9, airing on April 19, at the Food Network.

Canadian-born Alridge, 30, draws culinary influence from her Filipino and Jamaican backgrounds. She attended the Culinary Arts program at Vancouver Community College (VCC).

“Food was a huge part of my upbringing,” says 30-year-old Alridge, who began her professional cooking career with Cactus Club Cafe, then with Raincity Grill where she worked her way up to the sous chef position.

At CinCin, Alridge rose from being the chef de partie to her current position as the chef de cuisine.

Top Chef Canada’s season 9 premiere will be hosted by Toronto-born Eden Grinshpan, who is also the author of EATING OUT LOUD: Bold Middle Eastern Flavours For All Day, Every Day.
