Hailee Steinfeld stars in Ryan Coogler’s ‘Sinners’

Filipino American actress Hailee Steinfeld steps into a powerful new role in “Sinners,” a haunting thriller that marks her return to the big screen alongside Michael B. Jordan.
Directed, written and co-produced by acclaimed filmmaker Ryan Coogler – best known for “Black Panther” and “Creed” – the film tells the gripping story of twin brothers, both portrayed by Jordan, who return to their hometown only to confront a sinister force.
Portraying the role of Mary, Steinfeld steps into a mysterious and emotionally layered character in “Sinners.” The Fil-Am star shares the screen with a dynamic ensemble cast that includes Delroy Lindo, Jayme Lawson, Li Jun Li, Wunmi Mosaku, Jack O’Connell, Omar Miller and Miles Caton.

Moreover, off-screen, the film holds even deeper meaning for the Fil-Am actress. In an interview with People, Steinfeld shared that Sinners helped her reconnect with her multi-racial roots.
“The project served me in a way that I didn’t know I needed so bad,” she said, adding that the experience “brought me so much closer” to understanding her cultural identity.
For Steinfeld, “Sinners” was also a transformative journey of self-discovery.

The film also signals Steinfeld’s return to music. On Instagram, she announced the release of her new single “Dangerous,” featured on the Sinners soundtrack. “DANGEROUS from the SINNERS SOUNDTRACK OUT April 18th. It’s been a long two years away from music and I’m so beyond grateful for this moment,” she shared with fans.
Behind the camera, Steinfeld praised Ryan Coogler for shaping the film’s powerful narrative and atmosphere. She credited the acclaimed director’s leadership for making “Sinners” the impactful project it is today.
