The Philippine leg of the “Guts” world tour was something deeply personal for the Filipino American pop sensation, Olivia Rodrigo.

The Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter recently shared a moment with Rolling Stone, reflecting on an emotional experience she had while performing her song “Enough for You” during her recent concert in the Philippines.

As she belted out the lyrics, she could not hold back tears, thinking of her grandfather, who had always been a significant part of her life but never had the chance to witness her perform, especially in the country where her roots run deep.

This October concert in the Philippines, part of her global “GUTS” tour, was a landmark moment for her Filipino fans. By keeping ticket prices at an accessible 1,500 pesos across all tiers, Rodrigo ensured the experience was inclusive, allowing fans from various walks of life to join the unforgettable night.

Rodrigo’s connection to her Filipino heritage became a focal point of her visit, where she expressed her joy in finally performing for her Filipino fans, calling the experience “unforgettable” and mentioning how warmly she was welcomed in the country.

“I always wanted to perform for my Filipino fans,” she shared, adding that she felt a profound connection to her roots during her time there. This experience, she says, is one she will carry with her forever.

Rodrigo dedicated the concert proceeds to her “Fund 4 Good” initiative, a program she established to uplift women and girls around the world.

Specifically, she donated the earnings to Jhpiego Philippines, a global health organization affiliated with Johns Hopkins University. Jhpiego is devoted to enhancing the lives of women and girls, particularly in underserved and conflict-affected regions, where support is most urgently needed.
