Global girl group Katseye to kick off Asia tour in September
The “pinsan” of Olivia Rodrigo, Katseye’s Filipina member Sophia Laforteza, will be coming home to the Philippines in September as her multinational girl group starts their Asia tour.
Katseye recently took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce their Asia tour, which will kick off in Seoul on Sept. 12. Following their performances in Korea, the group will make their way to the Philippines for a three-day stop from Sept. 17 to 19. The tour will then continue in Japan from Sept. 20 to 23.
To keep fans updated on all the latest tour information, a subscription link was provided alongside the announcement, allowing fans to stay connected to Katseye’s upcoming events through email.
While specific details about their shows in the Philippines are still under wraps, excitement is already building. Fans can expect performances of the group’s hits, including “Debut” and “Touch.”
Katseye, which made its debut in late June, is composed of a diverse lineup of talents from different countries – Daniela, Lara and Megan from the United States, Manon from Switzerland, Yoonchae from South Korea and Laforteza from the Philippines.
Adding to their growing popularity, Katseye recently had a memorable backstage encounter with Rodrigo at her “GUTS” concert. The girl group was thrilled to meet the chart-topping artist, with the highlight of the meeting being Rodrigo joining them in their signature hand pose from their hit single, “Touch.”
Following the encounter, Katseye expressed their admiration for Rodrigo on Instagram, saying, “What a special night [with Olivia Rodrigo]. We look up to your craft and kindness immensely. Thank you for being such an incredible role model for all of us! SIS [Soft is Strong] for life.”
Meanwhile, Laforteza also took to TikTok to show her appreciation for the Filipino American pop star. In a short clip uploaded to Katseye’s official page, which garnered over 270,000 reactions, Laforteza can be seen vibing to Rodrigo’s hit song “Drivers License” and calling her “pinsan.”
Fully embracing her fandom, she sported an Olivia Rodrigo shirt, face stickers and a purple tumbler – a true nod to the Fil-Am singer’s iconic style.
