Instagram now lets you share 20 photos, videos in a single post
Instagram says it’s officially okay to overshare – so why not double up on those carousels?
It can be frustrating to choose just a few photos when you’ve got a ton of favorite memories or OOTDs to show off. Sometimes, every shot feels special, and you wish you could share them all. Narrowing it down can feel like you’re leaving out important moments or the perfect angle.
The pressure to pick the best ones can take away from the fun of sharing your experiences. Plus, with so many great options, it’s easy to second-guess your choices and wonder if you should have posted a different set instead.
But now, Instagram, owned by Meta, is making it easier with a major update that doubles the capacity of its carousel posts. Users can now upload up to 20 photos or videos in a single post – twice the previous limit!
This is a game changer. Earlier this year, the platform had already started experimenting with longer carousels, upping the frame limit from 10 to 15 back in March, as reported by Social Media Today. Recently, with the 20-frame option rolling out to everyone, there’s no need to agonize over which photos make the cut.
This update is a nod to the ever-evolving ways users engage with the platform, especially the trend of storytelling through comprehensive photo sets. Whether you’re chronicling a weekend getaway, a big family event, a concert of your favorite artist or just your favorite moments from the past month, Instagram’s expanded carousel feature gives you more room to play with.
And Instagram isn’t stopping there. The platform is also experimenting with new ways to make your carousels stand out, including text overlays and variable presentation formats. This means you can now mix and match differently sized images, aligning them to create a visually engaging story.
With 20 frames at your disposal and different presentation formats, your posts can now be as comprehensive – and as extra – as you want them to be. Who said oversharing was a bad thing?
