Livestream concert to benefit WPS heroes

The National Youth Movement for the West Philippine Sea (NYMWPS) will hold a livestream benefit concert titled, “A Tribute to our West Philippine Sea Heroes,” on Saturday, Feb. 17.

The concert will benefit the fishermen at the disputed Scarborough Shoal and the military troops on board the BRP Sierra Madre at Ayungin Shoal, the NYMWPS has announced.

The livestream event will feature a lineup of celebrity performers, including Leah Navarro, and special guest speaker Loida Nicolas Lewis, Fil-Am community leader, lawyer, author and philanthropist.

NYMWPS, which has chapters throughout the United States, advocates for Philippine sovereignty  and territorial integrity. It aims to promote awareness of WPS issues and instill patriotism among the youth. The group also works to protect the rights and welfare of the fishermen at Scarborough Shoal and support the military troops manning the BRP Sierra Madre at Ayungin Shoal and the Pag-asa Island residents.

The concert will livestream here on the following dates:

Performers include Leah Navarro, JMartin, Pepe Lozano, JJ Lozano, Jojo Almazan Sebastian, Elysa V., George Jamero, Katie Marcelino, Kakoy Legaspi, The Band of Brothers, Brick City Band and Joshua Bennett.

The event will be hosted by Dr. Celia Lamkin, NYMWPS founder and global chairperson, and JMartin of The Hafa Adai Show.

Proceeds from the concert will fund the following projects:

  • Pag-asa Integrated School: School supplies for students and teachers, educational tools and feeding programs for students.
  • Pag-asa Health Center
    Medical equipment, such as blood glucose meters and strips, wheelchairs, stretchers, other medical supplies and medicines.
  • Kalayaan fishermen: Food packages, fishing tools, medicines and safety gadgets.
  • Fishermen at Scarborough Shoal: Food packages, fishing tools, medicines, medical supplies, safety gadgets and personal hygiene kits.
