A new Filipino restaurant is tickling the taste buds of Ohio with its garlic noodles and savory dishes. Take a trip to Norwood’s The Gatherall food hall to sample Nice-Nice Noodles and Rice’s Asian islander menu.Nice-Nice Noodles and Rice is owned by chef Mapi De Veyra who’s no stranger to the delights of a good crunch and bursts of flavor. De Veyra is a former chef of the Asian fusion eatery Quan Hapa, Korean fried chicken joint Decibel, and the Dope! Asian Street Fare. He also just opened the taquería Los Tacos Hermanos in Newport, Kentucky last October.

Situated in Norwood’s Factory 52 development, Nice-Nice, which opened on Nov. 9, was recently featured in the Cincinnati Business Courier. In the interview, De Veyra talked about how his latest project offers a different side to Philippine cuisine from the Spanish profile of fellow Gatherall restaurant Filipina Kantina.

“Where I grew up in the east-most part of the Philippines, the island was on the Pacific Ocean, so there was a lot of influence from that kind of food as well as Asian.”

Apart from the crowd favorite garlic noodles, the menu also offers dishes like kare-kare noodles made with tonnato, pork belly barbecue, lumpiang shanghai, and kamote fries. It also has a kids menu.
