Stereotyping Filipino culture to just lumpia and adobo is common but this Filipino American History Month, “A Taste of the Philippines” is adding up tinikling and artworks into the mix.

Now in its sixth year, “A Taste of the Philippines” is about to bring Filipino flair as part of the Museum of Science & History (MOSH) Passport Series celebration on Oct. 19, Thursday, 6 to 10 p.m. in Jacksonville, Florida.

The event hosted by JAX Filipino Chefs, a group with the goal of sharing Filipino culture and food through the masterpieces of Fil-Am chefs, is expected to bring Filipino-American cuisine from seven local chefs alongside an art exhibit.

There’s no room for boredom here, too, as a live DJ will be performing on the third floor to keep the party going. But if you want some Filipino heritage immersion, ‘A Taste of the Philippines’ will also offer a tutorial of the famous folk dance tinikling.
