Filipino family-owned and operated Starbread Bakery has won a big following in the San Francisco Bay Area for its signature señorita rolls, buttery, sweet and best eaten warm.

Customers of all ethnicities flock to Starbread’s branches to buy dozens upon dozens of the soft, glazed, butter and sugar-filled señoritas fresh from the oven.

Hoodline describes the señorita rolls as “deliciously dangerous” and irresistible.

Señorita rolls were first baked in a humble store in Vallejo, California in 1988 by Nelly and Romy Maranan while also raising their five children.

Their Filipino baked goods, especially the señoritas, quickly took off. Starbread also offers pastries, some with flavors like pandan and ube.

The bakery has opened branches and franchises in13 locations, including Fremont Anaheim, Chula Vista, Las Vegas and, recently, Brentwood.
