Netflix Free Account Sharing in the US is Over
With the goal of keeping account ownership integrity. Netflix has recently launched its paid account sharing in the US.
If you’re sharing your account with someone outside your home, you’ll get an $8 charge per month for the extra user. If you have a Basic Netflix account, the additional charge will only apply to all users beyond the first user.
However, for Premium and Standard accounts, one or two additional users can still use the platform without any additional charges. This assures families with multiple users won’t be heavily affected.
Netflix promises that you can still enjoy watching even when traveling. However, you need to validate account ownership when using the platform from different devices or WI-Fi networks, a tad hassle for those who are sharing accounts.

Account owners can pay for those who are sharing the account. Thus, subscribers can manage their personal data, including their watch history.
If the account owner doesn’t want to pay for extra users, these subscribers will be removed. Eventually, they would need to pay for their own subscriptions.
Netflix expects some of these users will choose to pay for their own accounts instead. In turn, the streaming platform will gain more revenue.
