Investigators believed that Gomez and the child’s 21-year-old father had been drinking in a family gathering. Gomez was behind the wheel when she struck the father and his daughter, KTLA reported.

Both were taken to the hospital by other family members. Sgt. Jeff Higbee of Ontario Police said the father suffered abrasions. The baby died from her injuries.

Higbee told KTLA that what Gomez did was intentional. The teen mom was held at the San Bernardino County West Valley Detention Center. Katrina Hallare/JB
