Warriors kick off the season with a victory against the Lakers

Despite the slow start, the Golden State Warriors bounced back in the third quarter, kicking off their first win this season. The Dubs drove past the Los Angeles Lakers 123-109. This regular season’s opening night started off with the reigning champions celebrating with a special pregame ceremony at Chase Center.

In his 14th season with the Warriors, Steph Curry leads the game on Tuesday night. Once again, he set his record with 33-points in 33 minutes, while Klay Thompson contributed 18 points in 20 minutes. They led in the first quarter and never lost their stance edging over the Lakers with 27 points.

Steph Curry said, “You have 11 guys that probably deserve the opportunity to play and are going to be key for us to be the team that we want to be throughout the regular season, and then identify what the best rotation comes playoff time. The ’14-15 team was a little older through the bench, so a little bit more experienced and guys playing different roles.”

The NBA star player also added that it’s “Where ‘Strength In Numbers’ was born and the ability to, especially early in the year, confidently put out ten guys and expect them to contribute, expect them to learn and grow in their roles. That has a similar vibe, for sure.”

Twelve of the Warriors’ players stepped on the court on Tuesday night, while the first ten players all got in in the first quarter. The first player off the bench, Jordan Poole, also showed his skills. Poole scored six points in his first 97 seconds on the court.

Poole capped off the night with 12 points and seven assists.  In addition, Draymond Green scored 8 points with seven rebounds. While the newbies JaMychal Green and Donte DiVincenzo had a combined 16 points.

Last season, the two NBA teams played on the opening night, with Dubs leading the game with 121-114. Both teams got off to a sloppy start following the pregame celebrations. However, in the mid-game, the Dubs catch on their offensive phase. The team ended the game with 16 makes from downtown.

In the fourth quarter, the Lakers attempted to edge over the Warriors but failed to drop the lead below 12. LeBron James scored 31 points, eight assists, and 14 rebounds. While Westbrook finished the game with 19 points and 11 rebounds. Moreover, Anthony Davis scored 27 points. 

The Warriors have a few days before returning to the court on Friday. The team will play against the Denver Nuggets at the Chase Center at 7 pm Pacific Time. This will be the first of the three season games between the two NBA teams.
