A complete list of winners and key moments from the 2022 Tony Awards

After the pandemic era, Tony Awards were finally back on stage. The awards night aired on CBS on Sunday night and is already in its 75th year. With host Ariana DeBose starting and capping off the night, the biggest talents filled the stage that night.

Tony Awards night started with an opening number displaying tidbits of the key moments of musical theater history. While the group of dancers was a sight to behold, the performers re able to highlight the most loved show in the history of Broadway. The night’s host Ariana DeBose also opened the night with this marvel of a performance.

The Oscar winner DeBose strung a mash-up performance of songs from popular musicals like The Phantom. Of the Opera and Cabaret Company. She was earring a Michael Jackson-inspired outfit. In addition, Michael Jackson has ten nominations in the history of the Tony Awards.

The top award for the night went to “A Strange Loop.” It is a remarkable story tackling the struggles of a Black gay theater artist. The artist portrayed the scalding tale of society’s disapproval while contemplating self-doubt. Moreover, this contemporary work had already bagged a Pulitzer Prize.

While “A Strange Loop” was one of the major winners for the night, here is the list of winners who also shared a glimpse of the stage on the Tony Awards night.

Aside from the warnings for the winner, Tony Awards also paid tribute to the producers, theater artists, and directors who have died in the past months. For the tribute, Billy Porter sang “On the Street Where You Live.” It was an excerpt from the famous “My Fair Lady.”
