Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are engaged for the second time

/ 09:57 AM April 11, 2022

Bennifer will be exchanging vows at the altar soon! Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have become engaged again after breaking off the first one in 2004. A CNN representative confirmed the news on Saturday.

The Hollywood couple started rekindling their love affair last year. JLo shared the news on her page – On the JLo newsletter through a video. She announced the engagement days after snapshots of her assumably engagement ring this week circulated.

In the video, Lopez seems emotional but happy. Her green engagement ring can also be seen clearly on her engagement announcement.

Diamond Pro CEO Mike Fried said, “If that is indeed a green diamond, then I am stunned. A green diamond of that size is incredibly rare and would dwarf the value of their previous engagement ring. I would value the ring well over $5 million and could be worth more than $10 million.”

Their first engagement ring in 2004 was of the same shape and style. However, that ring featured a pink diamond instead. Lopez has been vocal about how the color green is “lucky” for her. She also confirmed that her home decor and art purchases are primarily green.

JLo said in one of her newsletters, “I always say the color green is my lucky color. Maybe you can remember a certain green dress. I’ve realized there are many moments in my life where amazing things happened when I was wearing green.”

Ben Affleck and JLo met in 2001 on the movie set of “Gigli.”Both played the role of criminals working on the same job together. Their friendship started to grow from hereon. Even if the film didn’t hit a box-office record, Affleck is still grateful. He said, “that he gets to meet Jennifer, the relationship with whom has been really meaningful to me in my life.”

In 2002, Ben Affleck proposed to Lopez. However, the couple decided to hold off their wedding until just a few days away from the set date in 2003. They released a statement, “Due to the excessive media attention surrounding our wedding, we have decided to postpone the date.”

The statement also said, “When we seriously contemplated hiring three separate ‘decoy brides’ at three different locations, we realized that something was awry. We began to feel that the spirit of what should have been the happiest day of our lives could be compromised. We felt what should have been a joyful and sacred day could be spoiled for us, our families, and our friends.”

They called everything off in January 2004. And this is when things started to be blurry for the couple. Fast forward to 2021, the pair have reunited once again. Following Lopez and baseball star Alex Rodriguez split up, Bennifer started rekindling their romance.

If all will fall into place this time for the two, it will be Lopez’s fourth marriage at 52. At the same time, it will be the second for Ben Affleck, who was 49. He was married to actress Jennifer Garner, and they share two daughters and one son.
