Filipina leaders in Texas hold global Women’s Week online parley
Filipina leaders in Texas held a global online conference during International Women’s Week to celebrate and empower women.
“Celebrating Women, Inspiring Change” was hosted by the Philippine Chamber of Commerce of Texas (PACCTX State).
Among the topics at the conference was how Filipina and minority women could work to make an even larger impact on the world. A panel, break-out sessions with facilitators and awards were featured to build community and connect attendees with resources they could use for their personal and professional journeys.
“Our purpose is to uplift and educate by providing a platform for honest discussion that encourages positive relationships, building healthy self-image as well as presenting opportunities to develop leadership and professional growth,” Rowena Raroque-Watters, PACCTX State president and conference leader, stated.
“We believe that women thrive in their business and professional lives when provided with support mechanisms built upon a genuine understanding of the myriad challenges that they face in their daily lives,” Raroque-Watters added.
The program included notable speakers and panelists such as keynote speakers, the U.S. Under Secretary of the Air Force Gina Ortiz Jones; former Philippine Department of Tourism Secretary and Founder and President of the International School of Sustainable Tourism Dr. Mina Gabor; Philippine Consul General in Houston Jerril G. Santos.
KPRC2′s own Rose-Ann Aragon moderated a panel session with Janice Villanueva, CEO of Mommy Mundo; Atty Aileen Ligot Dixon; Ellen Samson, CEO American Geriatric Care Management; and Marja Abad president and co-founder of Siargao Environmental Awareness Movement.
The Philippine-American Chamber of Commerce of Texas (PACCTX), a statewide chamber in the DFW, Houston, RGV and San Antonio regions, aims to inspire entrepreneurship, advocates for businesses and professionals, and supports trade and economic relations between the United States and the Philippines.
