Charles Barkley recounts how Kobe Bryant was on the verge of teaming up with him and Shaquille O’Neal for NBA on TNT
Kobe Bryant is among the best players to ever play in the NBA. Kobe Bryant spent 20 years with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he helped the team win five championships and witness countless memorable moments. Even though he only earned one MVP award in 2008, he is always the city of Los Angeles’ MVP.
Barkley relayed the story of how Kobe nearly joined Shaq and him on the TNT team in a recent interview on ‘The Draymond Green Show.’
“We actually hired Kobe Bryant at Turner. But he didn’t wanna do all of the bullsh*t,” said Barkley.
“When we started telling like, you know, I have to do a bunch of radio shows. Like hey, I go on this show on Monday. Hey, from Thursday night TNT. Same thing on Tuesday, same thing on Wednesday, same thing on Thursday. He like, ‘I don’t wanna do all that stuff,’” explained Barkley, regarding Kobe.

Bryant had a significant impact outside of basketball. Following his retirement, he became a well-known children’s novelist, winning an Academy Award for the animated short “Dear Basketball.”
Despite the fact that he died suddenly in January 2020, his legacy will go on forever.
