Screen Actors Guild Awards (SAG) 2022 – Winners list

On Sunday, the 28th SAG Awards honored this year’s best film and television performances. In addition, the Screen Actors and Guild Awards held the ceremony at the Santa Monica Barker Hangar. Then it was televised live on TBS and TNT at 8 pm. But it will be available for streaming on HBO Max today.

“Succession”, “CODA”, and “Ted Lasso” are the leading winners for this year’s SAG Awards. Moreover, “Ted Lasso” and “Succession” took over the television categories with five nominations. Both dominated the comedy, ensemble, and drama categories. While “Squid Game” made its mark as the first non-English show to be acknowledged by the SAG Awards Guild. The Korean hit landed a nomination in the ensemble category.

In addition, “CODA” bagged the prize for the best motion picture ensemble. In addition, Michael Keaton and Will Smith spoke for their acceptance speeches. Will Smith won the lead male acting in a motion picture. Then Michael Keaton won the male actor in a TV movie or miniseries for this year’s SAG Awards.

Since the SAG Awards was held in California, all attendees must comply with the state’s COVID protocols. They are required to present their proof of vaccination before attending the ceremony. This led to “Yellowstone” star Forrie J. Smith skipping SAG Awards. The actor is nominated together with the cast in the television drama ensemble category. Last week, Smith announced that he would not be attending the ceremony.

SAG Awards Nominees and Winners

In the film category, “The Power of the Dog” has three nominations. Moreover, the Jane Campion-directed film won individual acting categories. However, they didn’t win the ensemble category. “House of Gucci” led the ensemble categories with individual nominations fr Jared Leto and Lady Gaga.

Moreover, “CODA” actors were recognized in the motion picture ensemble category. Daniel Durant, Marlee Matlin, and Troy Kotsur are the first deaf actors included in the SAG Awards. While Kotsur is the first deaf performer to be an individual acting nominee.

Meanwhile, Kate Winslet had the honor to present the SAG Lifetime Achievement Award to Helen Mirren.

He said, “Richard Williams is a dreamer like no one you’ve ever known,” said Smith, who plays Richard in the film. “He has a power of belief that borders on insanity and sometimes tips over the border. Which is absolutely necessary to take something from impossible to possible.”
