Bon Voyage! Nik Mulani lists 3 things to consider while traveling amidst a global pandemic

With the threat of COVID-19 letting up in some ways yet changing in others, travel has started to pick up, and many people are ready to get out there. It had been a challenging year, and many travelers are itching to get back to the way things were. While that might take some time, there are many things that travelers willing to get back out there must consider while exploring amidst this stage of the pandemic. As per Nik Mulani, a popular media personality and Chief Business Officer – Digital Nod, “without a doubt, things have changed, but that doesn’t mean we can’t ease into travel. It’s all about taking the right precautions and planning ahead.”

Got vaccinated? Check if it’s valid

Right now, different world areas are grappling with COVID-19 in various ways, making it understandable that different regions will have different requirements. It is recommended that all international travelers are vaccinated for COVID-19, but that doesn’t mean all vaccinations and statuses are accepted. Already commonplace in the EU, some vaccines are accepted, and some are not. “It is essential to check if the vaccine you have is accepted in your destination. Different vaccines offer varying degrees of protection, and not all vaccines are globally approved,” states Nik.

Comply with travel requirements

It’s crucial to confirm with your airline or travel agent to ensure that you meet the requirements to board your flight. Travel was inherently risky at the beginning of the pandemic due to the high volumes of people in enclosed spaces. Nik Mulani shares that, “While the risk is decreasing, it is still a possible threat, so airlines and transportation companies are working hard to ensure they are doing their part to mitigate the spread. Whether it is vaccines, visa categories, quarantines, etc., be aware of the rules and follow them.” Everyone is doing their best in a challenging time. “Even though flights may be operational, and you may meet the requirements for your destination country, you may not be allowed to transit through certain airports, so it is important to research requirements even for transit destinations,” adds Nik Mulani.

Be aware

Finally, be aware that despite your vaccination or testing results, regulations also extend further, and signed declarations or contact-tracing apps might be required. Not all countries have opened their borders to unnecessary or recreational travel, and lockdowns or curfews are still common. “Some regions want to know if your purpose for travel meets their approved restrictions. Be able to show proof and ask if any self-quarantine is required whether in or out of the country,” elaborates Nik Mulani. While it might be frustrating for now, be patient as it helps lower the number of travelers into an area, decreasing the risk of COVID-19 transmission in particularly harder hit areas.

Despite the red tape, now is a great time to travel as countries take the pandemic very seriously and understand how to better protect people from risk. We’ve learned from the past, and the future of travel relies on prioritizing our safety. “Most regions are incredibly transparent regarding their information and prohibit overcrowding in many popular tourist destinations. A lack of crowding at tourist spots is alluring. With that in mind, pack your bags, travel safely, and enjoy the world once again!” concludes Nik Mulani.
