ASEAN Women’s Circle bazaar raises funds for Red Cross

WASHINGTON, DC – ASEAN Women’s Circle-Washington, DC (AWC-DC) donated part of the proceeds of the recently held AWC-DC Charity Bazaar to the American Red Cross in a simple turnover ceremony held at the latter’s National Capital Region office in Fairfax, Virginia, on October 25.

Leading the ASEAN ladies are AWC-DC President Madame Reshanty Bowoleksono of the Indonesian Embassy, AWC-DC Vice President Madame Sovanntevy Run of the Cambodian Embassy, Madame Kay Thi Kyi of Myanmar Embassy, Madame Datin Rafiah Arif of Brunei Embassy, and Madame Soumaly Sayavongs of Lao PDR Embassy.

American Red Cross Chief Executive Officer in the National Capital Region, Linda Mathes received the check amounting to $1,000 from Bowoleksono during the turnover ceremony. Also present during the event is Geoff DeLizzio, Chief Development Officer of the National Capital Region office, who talked about their work as well as their past and present activities.

AWC-DC organized a Charity Bazaar at the Royal Thai Embassy on September 9, with an agreement that proceeds will go to each participating Embassy’s charity of choice.

After the devastation caused by recent hurricanes in the United States, AWC-DC agreed that a portion of the charity bazaar proceeds will be donated to the affected communities through the American Red Cross.
