Filipino food truck in Utah vandalized with anti-Asian slurs

The World Famous Yum Yum Food Truck, which serves Filipino and Asian Fusion dishes, shared photos of the vandalism on social media Sunday, saying:

“We are not going to have hatred stop us from sharing our culture. Thank you for all the people reaching out. We are just so hurt right now and don’t what to comment on anything. Please don’t be offended if we don’t answer any questions at this time.”

Pierce and Cotter encouraged people to support them by coming to the Philippine Independence Day Celebration on Saturday, June 12, where there will food trucks and cultural presentations, “to see how truly beautiful and kind our culture is. We really love our friends and family in Utah and we are happy to be here with you all.”

The celebration, hosted by the National Federation of Filipino American Association and the Filipino-American Chamber of Commerce of Utah, will be taking place at the International Peace Gardens at Jordan Park in Salt Lake City.

Festivities will feature a potluck lunch of Filipino dishes and local vendor booths, including the Yum Yum Food Truck. Attendance is free for everyone.
