Kiddie fashion-talent show entertains Ontario community
MISSISSAUGA, Ontario — Adoring parents and doting “titos” and “titas” filled the Grand Hall of the Kalayaan Cultural Community Center on Sunday, May 28, for a children’s fashion and talent show.
The College of the Holy Spirit North America Foundation (CHSNAF) Canada’s Spring Children’s Fashion and Talent Show from 3 to 5:30 pm saw a bevy of multitalented children, aged 2 to 14, strut up and down the runway in a well-choreographed presentation of children’s outfits.
The three segments of the fashion show were titled “Halloween Thrills,” “Lakwacha,” and “Bongga.” The clothes worn for each segment reflected the titles–costumes for trick or treating for the first, casual togs for the second, and eye-catching formal wear for the third.
In between the fashion portions, the talents of the participants were showcased — drumming, singing and interpretive dancing. In the first talent portion, Matteo Amoranto played the drums, Amanda Joy, star of CityTV’s “Second Jen,” sang a number from “Moana,” and Star Circle’s Samantha Gavin, Bianca Espino and Jasmin Flores sang “Stone Cold” (by Lovato, Thorn and Pourkarim).
In the second musical intermission, Star Circle talents sang “Rock-A-Bye” and “Isang Mundo, Isang Awit” (by Nonong Pedero).
The third intermission featured Star Circle’s Jasmine Flores’ interpretive dance to “Evil Like Me” (by Andrew Lippa).
Melissa Unidad, the current president of CHSNAF Canada, welcomed the audience and explained the show as a way for the organization to raise funds to support its various advocacies.
Zuraidah Alman, anchor of CTV Toronto’s evening “News at 11:30,” gave the introduction and served as guest emcee.
After the show, the production’s working committee–Evelyn Ador-Dionisio, Vica de Leon Mangalindan, and Pixie Cruz-Eleazar–were handed floral bouquets and commendations for their hard work in organizing the event.
Marilou Parcero, ex-officio president of CHSNAF Canada, gave the closing remarks, thanking the audience, the participants, and Star Circle Academy of Entertainment for doing their best in staging a very successful show.
