“I’ll take the good and the bad days and call it a blessing because He writes my story that is perfectly and beautifully made just for me.”
With those words shared on Instagram, Filipino American singer Jessica Sanchez opened up about her renewed sense of purpose – one that’s leading her back to a familiar stage: America’s Got Talent.
As the show celebrates its 20th anniversary, Sanchez is stepping forward once again, embracing both her past and the growth that came with it.

In her post, the American Idol runner-up reflected on the ups and downs of her journey.
“The gifts and the blessings are always so easy to be thankful for,” she wrote. “But it’s in the painful moments, the hurt, the struggle and in all the difficult days where we are stretched, challenged and tested.”
For Sanchez, there is “purpose in the pain,” and she sees adversity as an opportunity to build strength, perseverance and faith. To those struggling, she offered a reminder: “God’s not finished with your situation yet. Your story is still being written. Romans 8:28-29.”
Sanchez is no stranger to the national spotlight. At just 10 years old, she was a wildcard act in the very first season of America’s Got Talent. A decade later, she rose to stardom as the runner-up on American Idol Season 11, wowing the world with her vocal talent and emotional depth.
Now, nearly 20 years after her AGT debut, she returns with a deeper story to tell and a stronger voice, both musically and spiritually.
In the Season 20 teaser, she shared with the judges, “I was actually on the very first season of America’s Got Talent,” marking a full-circle moment.
Reflecting on her journey, Sanchez expressed in a separate Instagram post how being just 10 years old on AGT helped her believe in something greater, not only for her voice but for her future.
She described the opportunity to return two decades later as a tremendous blessing and shared her excitement for what lies ahead, trusting that God has a meaningful plan in store.
