SAN FRANCISCO – As part of Filipino Food Month, the 2025 Filipino Food Crawl – Bay Area kicked off at the Philippine Center’s Kalayaan Hall in San Francisco this week, shining the spotlight on local businesses that promote Filipino food in the United States.
The Philippine Consulate General in San Francisco has unveiled the annual program in partnership with the Philippine Trade and Investment Center in Silicon Valley and the Department of Tourism Office in San Francisco.
Other event partners include the Filipino Food Movement and the Filipino American Chambers of Commerce of San Francisco, Silicon Valley and Solano County.
While Filipino cuisine has long been a part of the global food scene, “it is in the Bay Area that we see a flourishing of new Filipino restaurants and food concepts, as well as food innovators and culinary enthusiasts who are bringing the flavors of the Philippines to the world,” Consul General Neil Ferrer said in his remarks at the April 10 kick-off event.
Ferrer highlighted Filipino American chefs who have received national recognition, citing some of the Fil-Am nominees for the prestigious 2025 James Beard Awards.
The nominees include Oakland’s Chef Monique Feybesse, semifinalist for Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker, and the Seattle-based Filipino restaurant Archipelago, finalist for Outstanding Hospitality.
Ferrer has urged Fil-Ams to support participating Filipino restaurants, cafes, bakeshops, food trucks and pop-ups “where you will have the opportunity to taste, learn about and celebrate Filipino cuisine in its many forms.”
The public may participate in the program – from April 14 to 30 – by dining in or ordering from any of the 21 participating food establishments around the Bay Area. The list can be found here.
Each visit may earn an entry to join a raffle by sending a screenshot of their social media post with the hashtag #FilipinoFoodCrawlBayArea and a photo of their single-order receipt with a minimum amount of $25. The winners of the raffle will be drawn after the deadline for the submission of raffle entries on May 5.
