Alex Eala reflects on Miami Open success: ‘The real work starts now’

At just 19 years old, Filipino tennis prodigy Alex Eala has undoubtedly made her mark on the international stage, and her journey at the Miami Open has been one to remember.
Currently ranked No. 75 in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA), Eala’s remarkable run through the tournament served as a defining moment in her burgeoning career.
Facing some of the sport’s top athletes, Eala showcased her skill, determination and poise. Her victories over renowned players like former Grand Slam champions Jelena Ostapenko, Madison Keys and Iga Świątek drew attention from tennis enthusiasts worldwide.

In an Instagram post reflecting on her Miami Open experience, Eala expressed deep pride and gratitude for the journey.
“This year’s @miamiopen has left me speechless and so full of emotion, mostly pride and gratitude,” she shared. “I’m proud of myself for pushing through those tough moments, as well as to have been able to make a statement for the Philippines in one of the biggest stages of tennis.”
Eala’s words resonated not only with her fans but also with those who closely followed her journey from the very beginning. She also expressed thanks for the overwhelming positivity and support she received throughout her campaign.
“I’m thankful for all the positivity coming my way, and I pray that you all continue sending support through the highs and lows,” she added. “Salamat sa lahat ng pagdadasal at magagandang mensahe.”
