Is love in the air?
Filipina tennis prodigy Alex Eala is making headlines at the 2025 Miami Open – not just for her historic run but also for the swirling rumors about her love life.
As she soared into her first-ever quarterfinal at a Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) 1000 event, speculation about a possible romance with fellow tennis player Coleman Wong also gained traction as both are currently making waves at the tournament.
The rumors sparked after Eala and Wong, both students of the Rafa Nadal Academy, were spotted together in several social media posts. Their impressive performances at the Miami Open added fuel to the fire.
However, Eala was quick to put the rumors to rest. During a press conference following her dominant win over Keys, she directly addressed the speculation. When asked if Wong was her boyfriend, the 19-year-old firmly shut it down, saying, “No, he is not.”
Despite dismissing the dating rumors, Eala showed nothing but support for Wong’s success.
“You know, I’m super happy for him and to see someone that I’ve known so long do so well is definitely an inspiration. Not just to me, but I feel in general a lot of people can take inspiration from him,” she said.

During the said tournament, Eala made waves by taking down top-seeded opponents, including former French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko and reigning Australian Open titleholder Madison Keys.

Meanwhile, Wong made his own mark by upsetting American tennis star Ben Shelton on the men’s side. With both young talents thriving on the court, fans couldn’t help but wonder if there was more to their connection.
While Eala continues to dominate on the court, it’s clear she’s keeping her eye on the prize.
For now, tennis – not romance – remains her main focus. But, love is still in the air for the sport.
