Blackpink’s Jennie sends message of support to victims of LA fires

It’s a known fact that Blackpink’s Jennie filmed her debut series, “The Idol,” in Los Angeles.

Expressing solidarity in the face of disaster, she has reached out to extend sympathy with those affected by the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles County. 

Her gesture of support comes as Los Angeles continues to battle raging fires that began on Jan. 7.

The wildfires have left a trail of destruction, forcing more than 180,000 residents to evacuate their homes and claiming lives along the way.

On Jan. 11, the global K-pop idol shared a message on her now expired Instagram Story, bringing attention to the dire situation and offering support to victims. 

“Our hearts are broken for all those affected by the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles, a place so near and dear to our hearts. So many families, communities, and first responders are facing unimaginable challenges and losses right now,” Jennie wrote.

Encouraging people to step up and help, she added, “We stand with you all and encourage everyone to lend a hand however they can. Please stay strong and take care of each other.”

Beyond her emotional words, the Korean superstar also provided a link to an LA Times article listing critical resources for wildfire victims. The article offers information on shelters, food services and monetary aid for those who have been displaced.

Other prominent Korean entertainment figures have also joined Jennie in raising awareness about the crisis, calling for global solidarity.

Meanwhile, Jennie has been venturing solo with her music, like “Mantra” in 2024. In an interview with Billboard, the singer shared that the songwriting for her upcoming record draws heavily from her personal journey and life experiences. 

She explained that the themes in her music are influenced by what she has gone through, what resonates with her and what she aspires to, adding that being able to express her message in her own unique way is a significant change from her time with Blackpink.
