BTS’ RM bares soul in ‘RM: Right People, Wrong Place’
BTS leader RM is stepping into the global spotlight solo, not with a song, but with his first-ever documentary.
Titled “RM: Right People, Wrong Place,” is now screening in over 110 countries, including South Korea, the United States, France and Indonesia.
The film, crafted during the eight months leading up to his mandatory military service, is said to be an honest and unfiltered journey into the rapper’s life, passions and creative process.
The 79-minute documentary captures the process of RM’s second solo album, “Right Place, Wrong Person,” and chronicles his internal conflict between his roles as BTS’ leader and his personal identity as Kim Nam-joon.
What to expect? This raw introspection reveals a side of RM rarely seen, offering fans an intimate glimpse of the artist’s vulnerabilities and reflections.
BigHit Music described the project as “an honest record of what RM is passionate about and loves.”
True to this statement, RM personally curated every aspect of the production, from the music to the visuals. For him, this ensures the film is a reflection of his essence.
“RM personally selected staff in all areas, including music and visuals, completing ‘Right Place, Wrong Person’ with his own taste,” added the press release, as shared by The Korean Times.
In the film, RM shares candid thoughts on self-love and authenticity, stating, “I need someone who will bring out the negative stories and personal side in order to continue changing. I believe that to love oneself, one must be most honest with oneself to own the key.”
“RM: Right People, Wrong Place” also showcases behind-the-scenes footage and first-time interviews from RM’s solo endeavors.
It also marks the first time fans witness RM as a solo artist on screen, during a period when BTS members were exploring individual projects amid their hiatus and preparations for military enlistment.
