BTS’ Jungkook earns multiple nominations at 2024 Melon Music Awards
Securing a spot among the top artists, BTS member Jungkook has been nominated for several categories at the 2024 Melon Music Awards (MMA).
Following the announcement of the top 10 winners, the MMA revealed the nominees for its prestigious category awards, and Jungkook’s solo album “Golden” has earned him recognition in two major categories.
The 2024 MMA will take place on Nov. 30 at the INSPIRE Arena in Incheon, South Korea, with voting running until Nov. 29.
Awards are determined based on 60 percent download and streaming data, 20 percent judge evaluations and 20 percent fan votes.
The Millions Top 10, a separate category, uses 80 percent download and streaming counts and 20 percent votes to decide its winners.
Jungkook is nominated for Album of the Year for “Golden,” competing with artists like K-pop girl group aespa, Korean superstar IU and girl group LE SSERAFIM.
His solo album has made waves worldwide, showcasing his talent beyond his work with BTS.
Other notable nominees in the Album of the Year category include aespa’s “Armageddon” and IU’s “The Winning.”
In addition to the said nomination, Jungkook is also up for Best Solo – Male, where he will face off against popular soloists like Zico, Lee Mu Jin and Lim Jae Hyun.
“Golden” has dominated the charts, and his inclusion in this category is a testament to his growing success as a solo artist.
More than his album, Jungkook’s “Seven,” released in 2023, has now surpassed 2 billion streams, becoming the first track by an Asian artist to achieve this milestone on the platform.
For the uninitiated, MMA is one of the key events in the K-pop industry, continuing to highlight the biggest names in music and celebrating outstanding achievements across various categories.
It has become a highly anticipated event where top artists from around the world are recognized for their contributions to the genre.
