Taylor Swift’s poll numbers drop after Kamala Harris endorsement
In the world of pop culture, Taylor Swift has always been a force to be reckoned with, selling out concerts around the globe, topping the charts and streaming platforms and continuously breaking records while gaining Grammys.
However, there has been a notable dip in her public favorability, particularly among Republican voters. It is worth noting that the Grammy-award winning singer-songwriter publicly endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the US presidential seat on her social media platform.
A recent NBC News poll shows that her overall approval rating has fallen from 40 percent last year to just 33 percent this year.
This change comes after she endorsed Harris, which hasn’t been well received by many Republican voters.
Now, 47 percent of Republicans view the “Cruel Summer” hitmaker unfavorably, a sharp rise from 26 percent last year. This means that nearly half of Republican respondents now dislike her, likely because they disagree with her political views.
On the other hand, her popularity among Democrats has increased slightly, with 58 percent of Democrats now having a positive opinion of her – five percent higher than last year.
However, the news isn’t as good for independents, who are often seen as key voters. Their favorable opinion of Swift has dropped from 34 percent to 26 percent, meaning fewer independents now like her compared to before.
The overall impact is significant: Swift’s lower favorability rating suggests that her political endorsement may be pushing away some fans. Despite this, Swift appears committed to her beliefs, which has led to a clear divide in how different political groups view her.
After a debate between Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump, the singer posted her endorsement on Instagram on Sept. 10. She praised Harris as a “steady-handed, gifted leader” and addressed worries about misinformation in the digital age, specifically referencing an AI-generated video that falsely depicted her endorsing Trump.
The global pop artist reflected on the debate and urged her followers to thoroughly investigate the candidates’ stances on the issues that are important to them.
