Taylor Swift ‘drawing up plays’ for football, says Patrick Mahomes
Taylor Swift no longer on the bleachers this time?
Well, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes recently shared some fun insights about world pop sensation Taylor Swift’s growing involvement in football, and she’s getting more and more invested.
It’s not surprising given that the “Shake It Off” hitmaker has been in a high-profile relationship with Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, making her more than just a casual observer of the game.
During an interview with NBC Sports’ Chris Simms, Mahomes revealed that Swift’s enthusiasm for football has evolved into something more hands-on.
“I think it’s been cool to see the girls and the women that have really embraced watching football,” Mahomes remarked.
In reflecting on his experiences as a father to daughters, Mahomes shared how meaningful it has been to witness young girls enjoying football with their dads. He noted that meeting Swift and discovering her genuine and down-to-earth nature has been particularly special.
Given Swift’s fame, Mahomes appreciated how authentic and engaged she has been with the sport, adding a fresh dimension to her involvement, stating, “I think that’s been special to me because she’s, like you said, the most famous person in the world, she could not be (genuine).”
What caught everyone by surprise, however, was Mahomes’ revelation that Swift has taken her fandom to a new level. “And she’s really interested in football, and she asks a lot of great questions. Started drawing up plays,” he said. “We might have to put one in.”
This playful suggestion highlights the mutual respect and camaraderie that has developed between Swift and the Chiefs. The Grammy-award-winning singer’s appearances at Chiefs games, including her presence at Super Bowl LVIII, have become a part of the NFL experience.
As the 2024 NFL season approaches, starting with the Chiefs’ face-off against the Baltimore Ravens on Sept. 5, all eyes will be on Mahomes and his team.
Whether or not her plays make it onto the field, one thing is clear: Swift’s influence extends far beyond the music industry, and the NFL may never be the same.
