With humble beginnings as a pop-up food truck, Ginger Love Cafe has found its home, ready to bring Filipino flavors to Greenfield, Massachusetts.

Authentic Filipino street food, “turo-turo” (point in English) style – where customers just point to the dishes they want – is now available at the Franklin County fairgrounds.

The “turo-turo” dining style reflects the communal spirit of sharing Filipino street food and is a perfect fit for events and festivals. The cafe is bringing Filipino flavors to local events, kicking off at the SoulFest.

Located across from Halberg Hall, this new cafe is set to become a go-to food spot for those craving Filipino flavors. Thanks to Ginger Love Café owner Sheryl Diola, Greenfield is about to experience the rich island flavors.

“I didn’t go to school for (running a restaurant) or anything,” Diola told Greenfield Recorder, “but the food that I’m serving is what I love to eat. It’s my favorite foods.” Her modest yet confident approach to cooking will definitely resonate with food lovers.

What’s cooking?

A love letter to Filipino cuisine, her menu boasts of authenticity in every bite. Diola’s personal favorite and the unofficial national dish of the Philippines – adobo – takes centerstage. Her chicken adobo, marinated to perfection, is the right blend of “savory, sweet and tangy.”

They’re also offering unique menu items, including homemade pork longganisa steam buns (siopao) and cupcake bibingka — all lovingly handcrafted for their patrons.

Their grilled specialties – including tocino (pork cured in pineapple juice, soy sauce, brown sugar and red radish powder), chicken and tofu marinated in Asian sauces – offer a burst of flavors. Vegans can enjoy their gluten and dairy-free coconut jackfruit.

Her dream team

Diola’s journey from the Philippines to Greenfield, Massachusetts, is a story of passion, hard work and deep appreciation for Filipino food and culture.

Growing up with parents who both excelled in the kitchen, she honed her culinary prowess by working in restaurants, taking cooking classes and traveling around the world.

Now at the helm of Ginger Love Café, she has assembled a dedicated and diverse team to help run the café.

Expressing her gratitude to her team, she wrote on Instagram, “It’s the dream team y’all, and I am forever grateful to them for taking on this journey with me.”
