‘Camera’ starring Fil-Am actor Miguel Gabriel now on Amazon Prime, Apple TV
The long wait is over for film enthusiasts as Jay Silverman’s latest film, “Camera,” is now available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video and Apple TV.
Director Silverman recently announced the film’s release on Facebook, sharing the poster featuring young Filipino American actor Miguel Gabriel. The poster, accompanied by the message “Available Now” and the logos of Apple TV and Prime Video, declares, “Make every frame count.”
Set in a quaint small town, “Camera” follows the story of nine-year-old Oscar, portrayed by Miguel Gabriel. As he navigates his new surroundings without the ability to speak, Oscar finds solace in his late father’s broken camera, which becomes a poignant symbol of his unspoken emotions.
Jessica Parker Kennedy stars as Oscar’s widowed mother, Evelyn, while the acclaimed Beau Bridges plays a significant role in the film. Bridges, who has been in the industry for over 70 years, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, stating he’s having more fun than ever.
“I love stories about family. And what makes this story unique, the whole notion of family extends to the community, and community comes together as a family, which is what we need in the world today,” Bridges shared in an interview with KTLA.
The film’s official Facebook page describes “Camera” as “a touching, inspirational drama about ambition, fear, and redemption.” The post highlights the “extraordinary performances” of the cast in “a story you won’t forget.”
Meanwhile, in an April interview with Inquirer.net USA, Gabriel shared that the role is particularly meaningful to him. Reflecting on his own childhood struggles with a speech impediment, Gabriel explained how theater helped him overcome his difficulties.
“I went to a speech therapist, and she suggested theater for me because I was expressive through my face and body language,” he said. “So when I did theater, it helped me get over it, and now I get to use that experience, those feelings I felt, and use it to be Oscar.”
“Camera” was also featured in this year’s San Luis Obispo International Film Festival and earned the Best Feature Film (Family category) award at the Julien Dubuque International Film Festival, further showcasing its impact in the film community.
