Ube – which has gained international recognition for its exquisite purple hue and distinctive earthy, nutty and sweet flavor – is the star of this Filipino night market.

A staple in Filipino cuisine, ube has gained a cult following not just in Canada but also in the US, where chefs have recently begun adopting it for use in a variety of dishes, including ube pizza, the new purple craze in Oakland, California.

The event is all set to transform Toronto into a haven of ube treats. Vendors are serving everything from ube ice cream and halo halo to pastries and ube-based dishes.
