Pia Wurtzbach advocates for HIV awareness, LGBTQIA+ rights
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of activity for Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach. While the Filipina actress and host has dazzled at fashion events, her recent travels across the Philippines have also been driven by her passion for advocacy work.
A dedicated ambassador for LoveYourself, a nonprofit organization that champions HIV awareness and LGBTQIA+ rights, the Filipina actress and host has been visiting various parts of the country to further these causes.
In a reflective Instagram post, Wurtzbach looked back on a week filled with purpose.

“Beyond the spotlight, these moments doing advocacy work resonate deeply,” she added. “[LoveYourself] and I traveled through Cebu and Davao, engaging in meaningful conversations about pressing social issues for our upcoming season of Holding Space. Excited to share more!”
During her visit to Cebu, the beauty queen celebrated the opening of a new LoveYourself center in Lapu-Lapu City, named “Jem.” This center aims to provide essential services to residents who face challenges commuting to Cebu City.

“Jem at Mactan Town Center offers comprehensive prevention services, including education, regular testing, and access to PrEP and PEP. They continue their advocacy for ‘treatment as prevention’ for people living with HIV,” she explained in one of her captions.
In Davao, the Filipina beauty introduced “Jefferyi” by LoveYourself, named after the Philippine Eagle. This center also provides free HIV testing, PrEP, treatment, condoms and lube.

“It’s all about taking care of ourselves, so let’s check it out!” Wurtzbach urged her followers.
Additionally, Wurtzbach announced an exciting new initiative: the Comprehensive Program for Sexual Health, SOGIESC (Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression, and Sex Characteristics), and Mental Health for Migrant Workers.
This program will raise awareness through social media campaigns, educational videos and training sessions. It will also offer onsite testing, resource centers and mental health services, ensuring accessible and confidential support for all.
“LoveYourself’s dedication to supporting our OFWs and migrant workers in HIV awareness and care truly shines through. Pride isn’t confined to June – it’s a journey we embrace every day, ensuring inclusivity and support for everyone,” she emphasized.
During Pride month and beyond, Wurtzbach’s commitment to her advocacy work continues to inspire many, as she tirelessly works to make a difference in the lives of those she champions.
