“This festival meticulously selects the best in recent filmmaking, has a great track record and is known for advocating inclusion, diversity & LGBTQ representation – issues that are very pertinent to our team and our film’s heart,” said Ariel Felix, who wrote, produced and stars in “Get Your Story Straight.”

The screening in New York will be on July 31 at 8 p.m. at the Chain Theater in Manhattan, just a few blocks from Times Square.

“Get Your Story Straight” follows the tumultuous relationships of four Filipino American siblings – Jane, Janet, Jason, and James Del Rosario – as they are reunited unexpectedly when Janet is accused of killing her girlfriend.

Under the direction of Myra Aquino, whose previous film “Beauty Queen” garnered awards and attention at various film festivals, the film incorporates nuanced Filipino cultural elements such as mannerisms, behavior and sibling dynamics, all brought to life through sharp, witty and occasionally biting dialogue.

The all-Fil-Am cast also stars talented TV, film and Broadway actors Emy Coligado, Evan D’Angeles and Princess Punzalan.

The crew is 95 percent Filipino, including six-time Emmy nominee Editor Ben Bulatao and acclaimed Director of Photography Mike Maliwanag, whose films have screened at Sundance and Tribeca. Music is by rapper Headband Andy, and Arthur Felix serves as the executive producer.
