Fil-Am hooper Boogie Ellis joins Sacramento Kings
Filipino American basketball player Boogie Ellis announced his signing with the Sacramento Kings, marking the beginning of his professional career after going undrafted in the 2024 NBA draft.
Ellis further expressed his excitement on social media, stating, “I’m excited to launch my career with the @SacramentoKings.”
This signing is the third post-draft acquisition for the Kings, following the additions of Isaiah Crawford and Isaac Jones.
According to Sports Illustrated, the Kings have been particularly active in undrafted free agency, having opted not to make any selections in the second round of this year’s draft.
Ellis then shared a post on Instagram, reflecting his journey and determination to reach this point in his career.
“Only if y’all knew how much I been through these last 5 years I just want to thank GOD for putting me in this position been through every emotion but it made me and built me for any situation that comes nothings been given to me earned every opportunity ready for this next chapter it’s all apart of the story let’s work,” he said.
For the uninitiated, the Fil-Am athlete is a shoot-first combo guard who played in 59 games for the Memphis Tigers across two seasons (2019-2021) before transferring to USC.
He was a key member of Hardaway’s highly touted No. 1-ranked recruiting class in 2019, showcasing his potential and earning recognition for his skills on the court.
His transfer to USC allowed him to further develop his game and prepare for the professional level.
In a separate post, Ellis shared a photo of himself, all smiles, with the caption, “BLESSED,” emphasizing his gratitude and excitement for the opportunity to play in the NBA.
Ellis is set to play for the Kings in the upcoming NBA Summer League, which runs from July 12 to July 22.
