Taylor Swift gets emotional while singing song written with ex Joe Alwyn
It’s not just the Swifites, but Taylor Swift also got emotional on Saturday during her last Liverpool show, a stop in her Eras Tour.
The 34-year-old “Cruel Summer” singer-songwriter was seen fighting back tears while performing at the Anfield stadium, which can hold up to 60,000 fans, as per the report of Daily Mail.
The Grammy-award-winning artist performed “Champagne Problems,” a song from her 2020 album “Evermore,” which she co-wrote with her ex-boyfriend Joe Alwyn.
The couple had been together for six years before breaking up in April 2023. The emotional weight of the song and the overwhelming reaction from the audience clearly affected Swift. At one point, she removed her earpiece to fully hear the crowd.
She then expressed her gratitude, saying, “It is genuinely such an honor to play for a crowd like this. The fact that you would do that for us—I love you so much, Liverpool. Thank you.”

This heartfelt moment also came just days after Alwyn spoke publicly about their breakup for the first time.
In an interview with the Sunday Times UK, Alwyn shared his feelings about the challenges of ending a long-term relationship in the public eye.
“I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathize and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years,” he said. “That is a hard thing to navigate. What is unusual and abnormal in this situation is that, one week later, it’s suddenly in the public domain and the outside world is able to weigh in.”
Earlier this week, Swift celebrated a milestone by performing her 100th show on the Eras Tour. Her next stop is Cardiff on Tuesday, followed by a series of performances in London from June 21 to June 23.
Meanwhile, Swift continues her reign as the queen of streaming platforms with her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” rewriting the record books on Spotify. Breaking new ground, the album became the first ever to amass over one billion streams in just a single week.
