Taylor Swift album hits 1 billion Spotify streams in a week
Taylor Swift continues her reign as the queen of streaming platforms with her latest album, “The Tortured Poets Department,” rewriting the record books on Spotify.
Breaking new ground, the album became the first ever to amass over one billion streams in just a single week. Yet, it needed no seven days to do so, as the “Cruel Summer” songstress’ “The Tortured Poets Department” achieved the billion-stream milestone within a mere five days, solidifying its status as the fastest LP in Spotify history to reach such heights.

Released on April 19, the Grammy-award-winning singer-songwriter’s 11th studio album was warmly received by her Swifties all over the world, featuring 16 new tracks including the lead single “Fortnight” in collaboration with “Sunflower” hitmaker Post Malone.
In fact, the rapper-turned-singer took to both Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) to express his awe and gratitude for the opportunity to work with the billionaire and record-breaking artist.

The album’s unprecedented success marks yet another milestone for the global artist, who previously held the record for the most single-day streams with her album “Midnights” in October 2022.
Not only did the album dominate Spotify, but it also made waves on Apple Music, breaking the record for the most first-day streams of any pop album in the platform’s history.
Moreover, the album’s success transcended the digital realm, with an impressive 800,000 vinyl copies sold within the first four days of release, surpassing her own previous record set by “1989 (Taylor’s Version).”
As reported by NPR Music, Swift concluded 2023 with five of the top 10 best-selling vinyl records of the year. Aside from “1989 (Taylor’s Version)” were “Speak Now (Taylor’s Version)” and “Midnights,” each surpassing 500,000 physical copies sold.
Not only has she been breaking records left and right this year, but in just the first quarter, she also made her mark on Disney+ with her “The Eras Tour,” hailed as the highest-grossing music tour in history, and reigned supreme at the People’s Choice Awards. Additionally, she holds the distinction of being the first and only artist to win the Grammy for Album Of The Year four times.
