WATCH: Mamamoo’s Solar performs BINI’s ‘Pantropiko’

More and more K-pop stars have joined the “Pantropiko” craze, and the viral summer anthem from the “nation’s girl group” BINI still shows no signs of fading from the spotlight.

K-pop girl group Mamamoo’s leader, Solar, delighted fans with a surprise rendition of “Pantropiko” at her “Solar 2nd Concert [COLOURS] in Manila” held at The Theatre at Solaire Resort. The online community gushed over the clips that were uploaded and started to anticipate a collaboration between the two.

“There is a song that I prepared. I expected you guys to know this song,” she teased before launching into the beloved track which garnered over 81 million streams on Spotify, prompting the audience to erupt in cheers.

The enthusiasm didn’t stop there. After her performance, fans passionately chanted “BINI! Solar! BINI! Solar!” Encouraged by their excitement, Solar asked, “One more time? Okay,” and performed “Pantropiko” for a second time, much to the crowd’s delight.

As the chants of “BINI! Solar!” echoed once more, Solar playfully proposed, “BINI, Solar collaboration.” She also praised the song, saying, “The song was really nice.”

Moomoos, Mamamoo’s dedicated fanbase, further explained to Solar that BINI, the Filipina octet, were also fans of Mamamoo. Solar responded with amusement and curiosity, “BINI? Mamamoo fan? How did you know it? Are you guys close? You’re friends?” Her playful engagement with the audience added to the night’s charm.

In 2021, the biggest P-pop group in the country covered Mamamoo’s Hip during the Happy Hallyu online event performance.

For the uninitiated, Mamamoo consists of four members: Solar, Moonbyul, Wheein and Hwasa, and they are known for their vocal prowess and stage presence. Over the years, Mamamoo has released numerous successful albums and singles, such as “Piano Man,” “You’re the Best,” “Décalcomanie,” “Starry Night” and “HIP.”

Meanwhile, BINI dethroned Taylor Swift on Spotify’s Daily Top Artists PH after they climbed to the top spot on Sunday, making history as the first Filipino act to do so.
