‘Saturday Night Fever’ dance floor sells for $325,000 at auction

LOS ANGELES – More than 1,300 items from famous Hollywood films were sold in a four-day auction held at Julien’s Auctions in Los Angeles, officials said Sunday.

Hollywood Legends: Danger, Disaster & Disco” was conducted from June 12-15, with bidders across the globe participating live, online and on the phone.

The top-selling item was the original illuminating dance floor from 1977’s “Saturday Night Fever,” which sold for $325,000, Julien’s said.

A black jersey three-quarter evening dress designed by Ceil Chapman and worn by Marilyn Monroe when she and Joe DiMaggio attended an event hosted by Bob Hope on Dec. 16, 1953 to honor two-star general William F. Dean. sold for $254,000.

A large-scale filming miniature of the USOS Seaview submarine from producer Irwin Allen’s 1961 “Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea” sold for $222,250.

An original Ark of the Covenant prototype used for the making of 1981’s “Raiders of the Lost Ark” sold for $101,600.

Gal Gadot’s full Wonder Woman costume drew a winning bid of $114,300, while her tiara brought in $76,200.

A production helmet made for Chris Evans in “Captain America: The First Avenger” sold for $22,750, while his USO Captain America shield fetched $11,700.

An original Persian-style rug used for special effects during the production of 1998’s “The Big Lebowski” sold for $50,800. John Goodman’s seven-piece ensemble from the same film sold for $19,050, while John Turturro “Jesus Quintana” gold-tone chain necklace sold for $22,750.

Items from martial arts legend Bruce Lee were also part of the auction, including his pair of black nunchaku made by George Lee that sold for $45,500 and a pen on paper drawing of a dragon by Lee signed and inscribed “Enter the Dragon/ Bruce Lee Siu Loong” that sold for $22,750.

Other items included wands used by Rupert Grint ($25,400) and Emma Watson ($19,050) from “Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban,” and by Ralph Fiennes in “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire” ($19,050).
