The Filipino American community in the New York area recently celebrated the 126th Philippine Independence anniversary with the annual parade on Madison Avenue in New York City earlier this month.
This year’s parade – with the theme, “Preserving Our Filipino Culture and Heritage to Unite Generations” – featured cultural shows, dances and festivities that showcase the rich heritage of the Philippines. The event included a concert featuring top balladeer Nonoy Zuñiga, P-pop girl group 4th Impact and the Kuyamis Festival.
“This theme is a tribute to the diversity of cultures and traditions that make up our great nation, and the importance of coming together in harmony and respect for one another,” said Arman David, president of the Philippine Independence Day Council Inc.
