‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’ ‘The Traitors’ lead Real TV Award nominations

LOS ANGELES – MTV’s “RuPaul’s Drag Race” and Peacock’s “The Traitors” both collected five nominations Monday to lead the pack of hopefuls for the sixth annual Critics Choice Real TV Awards.
The awards recognize “excellence in nonfiction, unscripted and reality programming across broadcast, cable and streaming platforms.”
Both programs were nominated for best competition series, along with CBS’ “The Amazing Race,” Netflix’s “Squid Game: The Challenge,” CBS’ “Survivor” and Bravo’s “Top Chef.”
Nominated for best talent/variety competition show were ABC’s “American Idol” and “Dancing with the Stars”; NBC’s “America’s Got Talent” and “The Voice”; and Fox’s “The Masked Singer” and “So You Think You Can Dance.”
RuPaul Charles also scored a nomination for best show host, along with “The Traitors”’ Alan Cumming. Also nominated in the category were Will Arnett for Fox’s “Lego Masters,” Terry Crews for “America’s Got Talent,” Kristen Kish for “Top Chef” and Keke Palmer for NBC’s “Password.”
The Real TV Awards will be presented in person in June, following two years of cancellations of the live ceremony due to COVID-19 and Hollywood’s dual writers/actors strikes last year. The ceremony will be held June 15 at the Fairmont Century Plaza hotel.
