As Canada and the Philippines mark their 75th year of strong and friendly diplomatic relations, Filipino Restaurant Month also unfolds this April.

From Vancouver to Toronto, 44 Filipino restaurants are serving up delectable Pinoy dishes across Canada  — all rich in history as they are abundant in aromas and flavors. Commemorating a significant milestone in bilateral relations, the two countries are also celebrating the richness of Filipino cuisine this month.

Solidifying connections through food

During the recent launch of the 2024 Filipino Restaurant Month, Consul General of Calgary  Zaldy Patron revealed that in its first two years, the campaign had amassed 120 million media impressions and $7 million worth of media ad value for the Filipino restaurants throughout Canada.

Sharing his fervor over the successful initiative, Patron said, “these numbers are very encouraging, which means that we have gained traction for this Canada-wide project to promote our Filipino cuisine.”

Richard Quiambao, co-owner of Amihan Grill and Bakeshop, said the campaign has given them “great exposure in the community in Calgary.”

Consul General Patron added that this year’s event is “better and different,” with more national and local prizes awaiting the diners — thanks to generous sponsors.

All participating food spots are offering special prix-fixe menus showcasing dishes that represent the islands of the Philippines. Diners visiting these restaurants will have a chance to win prizes, including four round-trip tickets to the Philippines.
