Olivia Rodrigo’s team has reportedly decided to discontinue distribution of free morning-after pills during her “Guts” world tour, citing concerns over the presence of children.

Variety reported that organizers were directed to halt the distribution of free emergency birth control pills, lubrication, condoms and Plan B.

This decision was communicated to the organizations by the National Network of Abortion Funds (NNAF), which collaborated with the Filipino American singer’s team to set up booths at tour stops across North America.

The reproductive health resources distribution, which began on March 8 in Charlotte, North Carolina, drew attention after a photo of free Plan B circulated during Rodrigo’s St. Louis show.

Jade Hurley, who manages communications for the DC Abortion Fund, stated that NNAF relayed Rodrigo’s team’s decision to stop handing out lubrication, condoms and Plan B, citing the presence of children at the concerts.

Stephanie Kraft Sheley, founder of Right By You, defended the organizers’ approach, stating that they were thoughtful and careful in their work, ensuring that items were not accessible to children. She expressed that their presence in the community does not harm young individuals.

Despite objections, Hurley emphasized the importance of youth having access to birth control and emergency contraception, stressing that the distribution was legal in all 50 states.

Although the decision has disappointed some supporters, organizers have expressed gratitude to the Grammy-award winning artist for her support of reproductive health organizations through her Fund 4 Good initiative.
