LOS ANGELES – “Oppenheimer” blew away the competition, earning three prizes tonight at the 30th annual Screen Actors Guild Awards at the Shrine Auditorium. In addition to two male actor awards, the movie took home the trophy for best ensemble cast, the SAG Awards’ equivalent of best picture.

The movie’s star, Cillian Murphy, took home the award for male actor in a leading role, and Robert Downey Jr. won for male actor in a supporting role in the film.

Oppenheimer,” the story of atomic bomb mastermind J. Robert Oppenheimer, entered the night tied with “Barbie,” with four film nominations. The two movies battled it out at the box office last summer, with Greta Gerwig’s film that brought to the big screen Mattel’s iconic American toy doll winning not only the weekend, but the entire year. But “Barbie” was shut out at the SAG Awards.

The award for female actor in a leading role went to Lily Gladstone for her role in “Killers of the Flower Moon,” while Da’Vine Joy Randolph won for best female actor in a supporting role in “The Holdovers.”

On the TV side, “Succession” earned best ensemble in a drama. “Succession,” the tale of a billionaire family’s cut-throat battles to succeed an aging media mogul, entered the evening with a leading five TV nominations and closed out its much-decorated four-year run with its lone victory Saturday.

“The Bear,” meanwhile, scored three prizes, including one for comedy ensemble. And two of its stars — Jeremy Allen White and Ayo Edebiri – walked away with awards, the former for male actor in a comedy series, the latter for the female equivalent.

“Beef” won a pair of awards, including for Steven Yeun and Ali Wong for male and female actor in a television movie or limited series.

Meanwhile, Pedro Pascal captured the award for male actor in a drama series for his role in “The Last of Us” — becoming the surprise winner of the evening and beating out Kieran Culkin of “Succession,” who had won both an Emmy and Golden Globe in this year’s awards season.

Elizabeth Debicki won for female actor in a drama series, giving “The Crown” its one victory Saturday. The SAG Awards are often considered by performers as being among the most cherished Hollywood honors, because they are voted upon and awarded exclusively by other actors. The awards are also strong predictors of who will win on Oscar night.

During the ceremony, which streamed exclusively on Netflix, Barbra Streisand was presented with the 59th SAG Life Achievement Award. She was presented with the award by past SAG Award winner and longtime Streisand fan Jennifer Aniston.

The 81-year-old legend drew lengthy standing ovations upon her entrance and exit from the stage.

The ceremony was streamed live on Netflix, becoming the first awards show to be broadcast in that manner. Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt, who starred in the 2006 classic “The Devil Wears Prada,” reunited at the event to serve as presenters.
